We serve people seeking to deepen their spiritual understanding through direct study, ceremony, and pilgrimage rooted in Andean and Indigenous wisdom, so these vital traditions continue to thrive.
We envision a world made whole again, with Eagle and Condor flying together, and with head and heart reunited in harmonious balance.
OUR LIVING STRUCTURE
Eagle Condor Council is one 501(c)3 nonprofit, home to two co-equal initiatives: Yachay Studies and Golden Threads.
We think of these initiatives as two halves of one breath. Yachay Studies is the inhale, bringing wisdom in, and Golden Threads is the exhale, carrying reciprocity back out to the communities that have shared their wisdom with us. Each has its own story, its own leadership, and its own way of working, but both operate under one shared roof, and neither is complete without the other. In practice, this means every gift to ECC is tax deductible, regardless of what initiative it supports.
MEET THE FOUNDERS
Jeff Firewalker
Jeff Firewalker is a scientist, educator, entrepreneur, musician, and chakaruna—a bridge between different ways of knowing and being. After decades working across science, innovation, philosophy, and contemplative traditions, his journey led him deeply into the healing arts and cosmologies of Indigenous cultures. He founded Eagle Condor Council to help bridge ancient wisdom with modern life through education, direct experience, and advocacy.

Lea Motlow
Lea Motlow is a mother, grandmother, business owner, certified Rites of Passage Guide, and longtime practitioner of the Medicine Path. Known by her medicine name, Thunderbird Heart, she has spent more than two decades participating in healing circles, ceremony, and rites of passage. Her path has led her into deep relationship with the Andean traditions of Peru, where she continues to guide others through ceremony, Vision Quest, and experiences rooted in reciprocity with the land and its living traditions.

Jeff Firewalker and Lea Motlow arrived at this work from different directions.
Jeff arrived having already spent years training with Indigenous traditions, and had founded Eagle Condor Council to carry these lineages forward. Lea had spent over a decade in rites-of-passage and vision quests, guided by her own mentors long before she ever set foot in Peru.
Their paths converged through the Nustas (sacred feminine nature spirits represented within certain Andean mountains). In her studies, Lea kept encountering imagery of eagle and condor feathers, a synchronicity she followed like a thread that led her to Jeff. Not long after they met, she joined him on a pilgrimage to Peru, where the work that would become Golden Threads began to take shape.
Since then, the two have walked together: Jeff carrying the teachings forward, Lea carrying reciprocity back. It’s a collaboration built less on formal roles than on trust — two people, each already called to this path in their own way, who found they could walk it further together than alone.
