Eagle Condor Council Youth Programming

2021 marks a new year and a new decade, a time of tremendous transformation. We are waiting and listening for the right time to relaunch this programming. Stay tuned to this space for updates. Thank you.

As we continue to organize, develop, build, and dream, we remind ourselves of why we do this work.  We recognize that planting the seeds for a new planetary consciousness requires a new level of support for youth. Their challenge is to find meaning and context for their lives and to know that they are not powerless. ECC’s aim is to provide youth tools, community, and opportunities so they can be the light in the darkness of these times. To truly support our planet and humanity requires us to bring harmony, and to live in Ayni. Our planet is in crisis and it is a time for continued action, service, and remembering. This is a time for deep connection, a time for prayer. We have no choice; we must help young people flourish.

Our goals for this year are:

  • to build a strong youth programming team,

  • establish funding,

  • start summer camps in the Asheville area and the UK,

  • launch at least one global action day and/or day of service,

  • collaborate with other community organizations, and

  • planning future programming in related areas and capacities.

SUMMER CAMPS

We are excited to be launching youth Summer camps both in the UK and in Barnardsville, NC this year! The goal of these camps is to create a community of youth engaging in earth-based practices while creating a culture of earth stewardship and service.

Through fundraising, we intend to offer a limited number of scholarships. We will also be providing sliding scale tuition and work-trade opportunities to make camp financially accessible to families of all financial backgrounds.

Each day of summer camp builds upon a theme of the elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) and the final day is about HEART--Service, Family, Community. Through story, art, music, movement, and time in nature, campers will gain experiences, tools and deep connection to self, others, and the natural world. Campers will engage with the ECC Wisdom Keepers and will have opportunities to share their own wisdom teachings with family during the camp-out.

GET INVOLVED!

We would love for each of you to become a stakeholder in this initiative. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Make a tax-deductible donation of at least $10 through our GoFundMe campaign or contact Jeff (jeff@eaglecondorcouncil.org) for other ways to donate.

  • We are inviting artists in our community to create an image for a camp t-shirt/shirt to be worn on service days. This image may also be used on other merchandise in the future.

  • A call to wisdom teachers and volunteers for our summer camps. We are looking for Wisdom Carriers to co-create and or lead activities with our youth. If you are a musician, artist, storyteller, dancer, yogi, martial artist, event planner or have something useful to offer contact us! We are open to suggestions! Please email if you’d like to volunteer. We are already so grateful to all who’ve reached out so far!

  • We are open to any community collaborations that you may be a part of and/or could recommend that are in alignment with environmental stewardship, tree planting, and supporting youth, the underserved, and the indigenous. We are currently coordinating with organizations to try to put together a Community Service Day in April 2020 and for future dates. Please stay tuned!

  • We will be putting together a packet for business sponsorship… either through monetary, service, and/or material. (i.e. t-shirts, screen printing service, art supplies, trees, seeds, etc.)
