Dreaming the Future: Taripay Pacha

Dreaming, listening, and diving into sources of deep insight have always been important for humans to maintain sacred reciprocity with the living world. Our sleeping and waking dreams have so much to teach us about our inner processes and our engagement with the outer world. Dreams help us call the future into being. Throughout history, there have been seers, dreamers, and guides who have helped us better align in sacred reciprocity. Astrologically speaking, today, it is a potent time for us to be dreaming the reality that we want for ourselves and the collective.

As of summer 2025, Saturn and Neptune are traveling close together in the beginning few degrees of Aries. We will have an exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees Aries next February 2026. Zero degrees Aries is the cardinal degree of the zodiac – it is the creator degree. Saturn is the planet of structures, boundaries, and forms – it’s about building things that last and the discipline to make strong foundations. Neptune represents the capacity of imagination - the imaginal realm. At this time, we are witnessing structures that do not have Saturn's foundations, are falling down, and crumbling. What the planetary relationships are telling us at this time is that we will see many breakdowns of old structures, especially because of Neptune's capacity to diffuse boundaries. On the other hand, we, the collective, also have the capacity to powerfully dream the future that we want into being.

Pluto has just arrived within a few degrees of Aquarius; and Uranus, will come within a few degrees of Gemini this year. We have all the outer planets, Pluto, Neptune, and Gemini, all at the beginning degrees of new signs, which is very rare!

In astrology,  there are four elements and three modalities. Four times three gives you 12. So, we have a cardinal, fixed, and immutable sign of each element: earth, air, water, and fire. As of summer 2025, we have Pluto at fixed air, Aquarius. We have Saturn and Neptune at cardinal fire, Aries, and then we have Uranus at mutable air, Gemini. What this means is that we are becoming significantly activated in all three modalities. Having all the outer planets at the beginning few degrees of these modalities aligns with us moving into the Taripay Pacha – the Andean prophecy that says, among other things, we are entering the time where we must come back into sacred reciprocity with the living world around us.

It is important that we each take responsibility for what future we are calling into being. The potency of our beliefs in creating reality is extremely augmented at this time, and we are on a very accelerated timeline. Therefore, we want to make sure that the future we are dreaming into being is one we want for our great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren. This time is about the long vision, the big vision. This philosophy opposes the way that modern culture has programmed many of us, which is to prefer instant gratification. For instance, if we get sick, we take a medication and it cures a symptom, but it does not heal the root cause of the symptom.

Do we want to keep living in a world of consumerism and exploitation of resources, or do we want to be manifesting a world of reciprocity where we are stewards? Some astrologers say that we actually do not even have the capacity to imagine what the future is going to be like because it will be so different than what has ever occurred in human history, which is exciting. However, we still have a deep responsibility to anchor more love and compassion into the world that is emerging. Let’s banish doomsday fear and apocalyptic visions. Humanity is rising up like a phoenix from the ashes: our collaborative, co-creative, and evolving love is overpowering the fear. We must hold this vision clearly.

Sherri Mitchell, an indigenous elder, talks about a myth from her tribe about a cannibal giant that has an insatiable appetite and just eats and eats and eats. Our capitalist system is that cannibal giant. Rampant consumerism (maximizing profit at minimum cost of goods) is exploiting the earth's resources, plants, animals, and people. It feels soulless. We must bring the spirit and the soul back into culture. Sometimes when we heal, we heal through very physical measures – physical therapy, an elimination diet, or we work with certain plants, for instance. But we also have the emotional layers to work with, too. The soul level of healing happens through the mythic realm, where we can reclaim parts of ourselves that have been lost or have not had space to be recognized.

It is wise for us to listen to our waking and sleeping dreams. For this purpose, there are many plants we can work with, such as mugwort or blue lotus, that help us make deeper connections and remember our dreams. It is also helpful to have a dream journal or to record a voice memo right when you wake up. Humanity has been largely disconnected from this aspect of our embodied experience, which is a feminine aspect of experience. Now we are returning to our intuition, relying less on the mental focus of the patriarchal paradigm. In each moment, we do not really need to know all of the physical, practical steps we need to take. Reconnecting to the intuitive feminine, living in a closer relationship to the Earth, will help guide humanity forward in a good way. Indigenous cultures have so much to teach modern culture about reciprocity and how to more deeply listen.
